D3S Student's Lab

  • Are you interested in Internet of Things? Would for instance you like to build a system that automatically takes care of plants at your place and shows you reports in cloud?
  • Are you building a robot and need to test and simulate a navigation algorithm for it?
  • Are you curious about how software for contemporary cars is being developed?
  • Are you interested in tools for development of reliable mission-critical applications?
  • Do you want to learn about the state-of-the-art in software verification, program analysis, and debugging, and make a contribution?
  • Are your applications running slow and do you want do discover why?
  • Are you choosing a topic for your individual software project/bachelor thesis/master thesis?

If you answer to any of these questions YES then come to us.

We have a well-equipped lab for "playing" with embedded devices, mobile application, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical systems, robots, servers, cloud ... You can get hands-on experience with designing and developing such applications and systems!

For example, you can:

  • Borrow embedded hardware and play with it (e.g. Lego NXT, STM32F4Discovery, STM3210C-EVAL, Raspberry, Beaglebone, FPGA, etc.)
  • Install and configure a real server (e.g. DELL Blade M620 with 32 cores, 48 GB memory) and configure virtualization or even a private cloud on it.
  • Do CUDA computation on NVIDIA Tesla
  • Try to correctly and precisely measure performance of a distributed application
  • Try to verify correctness of a PHP application or a kernel driver - all this with a computer that has 198 GB of memory

All of the topics above are covered by courses we teach. Furthermore, we offer a set of topics for the projects/bachelor/master theses together with accompanying information about individual projects (in Czech). Some of the topics can be further continued on at a PhD study at our department.
